Following the building of my CNC plasma cutting table, the final thing was the fabrication and installation of the water pan. This video shows how we fabricated and installed the water pan, which is a vital part of the plasma cutting table.
The main reason for the water pan is to trap the harmful fumes, sparks and smoke that are generated by the plasma cutting process.
Reducing the harmful fumes from the air around the plasma cutting table, makes for a safer working environment, which is a good thing.
The water pan is 1500 x 1500 x 100mm and is made from 3mm mild steel. The slats are 50 x 3mm flat bar laid on their edge and they’re curved to prevent excessive damage during the cutting process, should a cut ran parallel to and on top of a slat.
The water pan holds approximately 225 litres of water and it’s my intention to use a plasma cutting additive to reduce bacteria, rust and corrosion.
A shout out to Luke at Swags Engineering, who cut and folded the water pan, as well as cutting the slots and folding the slat frames.
Luke is located at Unit 11, 21 Hurrell Way in Rockingham. His email address is: [email protected]
