This video shows how to reveal all the parameters on the F1620 Torch Height Controller. Basic parameters only show during normal operations.
I have spent many hours learning about these types of machines, if the video helped you out, consider donating or subscribing to my channel. Thank You!
This is a rewritten and more simple explanation of the THC parameters.
P00 Resets THC Parameters
This parameter set to 1 resets THC to factory settings.
P01 “Manual Lift Up Speed”
This parameter changes the manual up speed of torch lift.
Default setting =50
P02 “Manual Lift Down Speed”
This parameter changes manual down speed of the torch lift.
Default setting= 50.
P03 “Automatic Lift Up Speed”
This parameter changes the automatic up speed of the torch lift.
Default setting=50
P04 “Automatic Lift Down Speed”
This parameter changes the automatic down speed of the torch lift.
Default setting=50
P05 “Over Voltage Protection”
This parameter protects the torch from diving when the torch is cutting over an opening or gap which raises arc voltages that cause the torch to lower.
Default setting= 30 Volts
Lower setting= rapid torch dive during cutting
Higher setting= slower torch dive during cutting
P06 “Arc Voltage Adjustment Accuracy”
This parameter allows THC to make adjustments when “actual arc voltage” and “set arc voltage” are within (+/-) of the parameter set.
Default setting = 1 Volt
P07 “THC Adjustment Sensitivity”
This parameter changes the sensitivity of the THC when adjusting the torch to match the set arc voltage.
Default setting= 6
Higher Setting = Faster torch adjustment
Lower Setting = Slower torch adjustment
P08 “Torch Raise” (non-cutting mode )
This parameter protects the torch by lifting when a collision is detected and the machine is not cutting or idle.
P09 “Intelligent Arc Voltage Adjustment”
This parameter automatically raises the set arc voltage when two consecutive collisions are detected during cutting. Automatically raising the set arc voltage allows the THC to keep the torch and controller in operation and free from damage due to inaccurate voltages. Inaccurate voltages can be caused by aging consumables, power spikes, not properly ground, and or failing components.
Default= 5 volts if enabled
P10 “Enable Intelligent Arc Voltage Adjustment”
This parameter set to 1 will enable intelligent arc voltage adjustment (P09)
Default= 0
P11 “Collision Limit”
This parameter allows the THC and controller to stop cutting operation after a set amount of collisions to prevent the cutting torch from damage.
Default= 0
P12 “Motor Direction”
This parameter changes the torch lift motor direction, sometimes machines are wired in reverse and can be changed by adjusting this parameter.
Default= 1
P13 “Lift Torch Proximity Switch Enable”
This parameter allows for use of a proximity switch on the torch lift, Set to 1 to activate if installing a proximity switch.
Default= 0
P14 “Torch Lift Braking Speed”
This parameter changes the deceleration speed of the torch lift.
Default= 50 ( fastest deceleration)
P15 “Torch Lift Acceleration”
This parameter changes the speed at which the torch lift accelerates when raising or lowering the torch during cutting operation, default setting is 100 and should be left alone.
P16 “Actual Arc Voltage Sampling Delay”
This parameter changes the delay time in which the THC samples the actual arc voltage after the plasma cutter starts. This setting reduces high frequencies and voltage spikes that can cause the torch to raise or lower prematurely.
Default= 0.2 seconds
P17 “Torch Lift (Start Up)”
This parameter changes the torch lift time during THC start up. Default= 1 second.
P18 “Torch Lift ( Work Complete )”
This parameter changes the torch lift time after cutting is completed.
Default= 2 seconds.
P19 “Dynamic Pierce Height”
This parameter controls the torch lift time during piercing to reduce the chance of slag splashing on consumables and the torch body. This parameter only works when THC has a torch delay set.
Default = 0 (advance option).
P20 “Dual Speed Positioning”
This Parameter changes the time the torch is lowered at high speed for dual positioning. Default is 6 seconds which cancels out dual positioning due to short torch travel (100mm). Adjust lower if using an ohmic sensor.
P21 “Ohmic Sensor Enable”
This parameter set to 1 enables ohmic sensing and is set to 0 for no ohmic sensing. Ohmic sensing requires shielded consumables.
