Here’s a recap of what this video covers: With Carveco Maker you can import 3d models, including stl’s which you can find on 3d-printer model websites like yeggi, thingiverse, or cults3d. In this video I’ll show you how I import the model, resize to fit my stock and then how I add offsets which drastically reduce carve times versus the default toolpaths within carveco. Using a tapered bit you can get very fine detail while maintaining the tool strength of a much larger bit! If you haven’t tried tapered bits yet, they will surely change your 3D carving life, with their strength and great finish quality you won’t regret the purchase! Here is a very inexpensive 1/8″ shaft variety-pack that I use regularly: https://amzn.to/3cnGPfX this shop also sells them in 1/4″ although I haven’t found the 1/4″ shank version in a multi-size pack like the 1/8″ ones. After generating the toolpath you can preview a simulation and even change the material to look more like the wood your using and delete the waste material which creates a great 3d rendering that you can send to a potential customer. Another great feature of Carveco is the method of creating toolpaths which incorporates the tool name into the file name to ensure you are using the correct bit when you load the program.
Let me know below if this process helped you at all, or if you learned something that you’ll incorporate into your own CAM process! and tell me your ideas for future videos, I keep a log of all ideas and tally any duplicates to help me know which ones I should cover next. Thanks for Liking the video, I really does help me grow and know whether you like this type of video tutorial!
