As the name say in 3-Axis Machine have only 3 Axis from any of X, Y ans Z linear and A ,B or C rotary axis that they are working in 3 dimensions. but in the 4-Axis machine it’s have 4 Axis A along with X, Y and Z. productively 4 Axis CNC Machine are more accurate and precision. cost of 4-Axis machine may higher than 3-Axis machine.
A 4-axis CNC machine operates on the X,Y and Z axes like a 3-axis machine, but it also includes rotation around the X-axis, which is called the A-axis. This is the 4th axis that’s added to our machining process. What is the 4th axis on a CNC router?
Index 4-axis CNC machining is when the 4th axis (A-axis) rotates whilst the machine is not cutting material. Once the correct rotation is selected, a brake is applied and the machine resumes cutting. In continuous 4-axis machining, the machine can cut material at the same time as the A-axis rotation, simultaneously.
What can a 4-axis CNC machine do?
A standard CNC Mill only has X, Y and Z axes. The 4th axis allows the cutting tool to move along the rotating workpiece. With 3 axis machining it is possible to make cuts forward, backward (y), side to side (x) and up and down(Z). Because all three axes can move, you have a wide range of possible cutting combinations.
What is the difference between 3 and 4-axis CNC?
4-axis milling involves the same processes involved in 3-axis machining, where a cutting tool is used to remove material from a piece to create the desired shape and profile. However, in the case of 4-axes machining, milling is performed on an additional axis.
