Kern lasers are known for creating amazing 3D engraved wood images that make unique works of art. Large panels of wood, MDF or plywood can be laser engraved to create huge murals or eye-catching signs. You can also make small, intricate pieces of wooden home decor. The use of low wattage and small focused beams when cutting veneer allows for extremely tight patterns similar to handcrafted marquetry.
In this video, we have cut and engraved a prefinished cabinet grade birch plywood. The digital images were taken from a smartphone and processed through Kern’s KCAM software. The pre-finish allows for easy cleanup and adds value to the finished laser engraved wood product.
This system is on a 52″ x 100″ work area, using a 150 watt laser. Kern Laser Systems HSE series machines make engraving large photos a simple process.
